Okay. So, I'm not the greatest at creating goals. Ever since I made Colette Paperie my main gig, I've had ups and downs of productivity. I like to think of it as this: when I'm feeling creative, I create. When I'm feeling productive, I produce. But springtime comes and all I want to do is screw around outside because the weather is so nice and I've long ago forgotten what discipline is!
So, I've decided I need to document my accomplishments. Yes, some of them are small and pathetic, but they are still accomplishments and they make my list longer.
1) (Oh you're going to love that this is #1): I've finally made it part of my nightly routine to use anti-wrinkle eye cream! Ha! Yes, I need to stay "25" forever. Many of my friends know I have developed skin "complexes" not because it's bad, but because it's good. Yes, complexes can come about even on good things!
2) I finally got an iPhone. The thing about it is, when I go to shows, I really need a credit card swipe! And let's face it, I hated my dumb Blackberry and it hated me. So I dropped the bucks and did it. Yes, I am also automatically cooler because I have one. That was a fringe benefit.
3) I turned in my volunteer form for Hospice of Twin Cities. I've been wanting to become a volunteer somewhere on a regular basis for some time now - and I wanted it to be fulfilling. My job duties will be reading to the patients and writing letters. Just being there. I think this is just what I want. Especially for those who don't have much family or friends to keep them company in their last days.
Memba these?
4) Bothering to use things like Pinterest and blogging. This kinda goes up and down, but I'm going to try my best to keep it going. Your comments and re-pins help greatly. :)
5) Joined Magic Wand Collective, a women's entrepreneur group here in Minneapolis. I've already met a bunch of awesome ladies and I've learned a lot already too.
Goals yet to accomplish:
1) Design a website promoting my book, get cool bookmarks made as promotional items. Thanks to Amanda Donaho Photography for my awesome photos...
2) Finish editing the book and at some point say "It's really finished this time." Oh and design the cover. Yes, that's a big one.
3) Complete a holiday wholesale catalog that separates cards into all major holidays - have a head start by designing long in advance, keeping in what sells and creating new designs for the year.
4) Build my wholesale business even more. I am already in a bunch of great locations, but this prospect is endless. It gets my cards into the hands of those who don't like buying online, and I support other small businesses at the same time. But I need to reach out to the many, many small businesses out there looking for people like me. This is a lot of work but worth it if I build long-lasting relationships.
5) Take trips. So far this year I've been to Houston, Cincinnati and Columbus. All 3 have had a specific purpose and I saw family/friends at the same time. I want to take trips on my own where I explore cities in my own way and take some major contemplation time to myself. I plan on starting this by doing some things around Minneapolis that I've never done and just pretending I'm in another city, we'll call it practice. During these "trips" - I won't have my laptop or my phone on. I'm not one that needs "me" time in the way of going to the beach or relaxing - I actually want "me" time as time to escape and think, and see new things in new lights. I also would like to give this handy dandy thing a few more stamps...
6) Create a new fundraiser! You all know me as a money-raiser for good causes. I hope to keep doing that, but I always strive to keep it creative and rewarding for those who participate. There are way too many places we can donate our money to - and my goal is to give plenty of reasons why my cause is worth your time. Any ideas will be welcomed! Colette Paperie has donated over $1,000 so far this year, and hopefully a whole lot more to come. :)
Well, hopefully this post wasn't the most boring thing you've ever read. Maybe I'll do another video blog soon. What to talk about though?
Wishes for a happy week,
