This week's giveaway is totally awesome for all my artsy followers.
It ends this coming Sunday 9/18 at midnight CST.
Here we go!
GIVEAWAY ITEM #1: ($12.00)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The first item up for grabs is this awesome organizer from McSweeney's. If you haven't heard of McSweeney's, you're missing out. But you've probably seen some of their delicious books out there. This organizer is called the "Keep Your House in Order" and here's a little bit about it:
Designed by Heidi Meredith
"Do you find yourself awash in a sea of things to do for work, while the things you need to do for your personal life nip at your heels like hungry piranhas? Do you perpetually and repeatedly draw up to-do lists in order to keep yourself afloat, but—confound it!—keep losing them?
Well, this elegant and functional planner will help you keep track of all the things you need to do for work and for pleasure. You'll never miss a conference call again, or forget the name of the Chilean albariƱo that your mom told you to try.
The Keep Your House In Order planner has the capacity for fourteen months of organized living. You can start the planner whenever you want; it's not tied to any specific dates. It's full-color throughout and has plenty of space for whatever lists you can conceive, as well as prompts for things like "names I like," "good costume ideas," "museums to see in my town," and "favorite band in high school."'

A lot of things inspire me to be creative - fantastic fabric, pretty paper, the outdoors, but I must be organized to make it all happen. I'm a big binder girl. I have organized all my interests into individual binders of inspiration. When I'm ready to create something and need ideas I can turn to that specific binder. I'd love to have the drawing journal. Thanks for the great giveaway!

ReplyDeleteTotally need the Keep Your House in Order planner! I just bought my first house and have a million lists running through my head, things to do now, things to do next summer, things I want to do when I can afford it. Having that all in one place would be lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm usually not intimidated by organization/creative projects that don't seem to happen as soon as I want them to. I'm a big believer in "a time for everything" and have long ago accepted the fact that I can't do everything at once (shocking, I know!). When I'm inspired to do a project I know it'll happen eventually, even if eventually means 3 years from now.

ReplyDeleteI become inspired when I read articles on organization such as the ones featured in Real Simple. LOVE that magazine! I needs lots of help though as I am certainly not the most organized person. This is a great giveaway and I adore all 3 items, however, I love #2 especially since I just bought my first house and everything seems to be in disarray. This would help get me back on track!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately/fortunately, everything inspires me on a million different projects so I always have a huge "to do" list of ideas in my back pocket. That's why I've taken to carrying a spiral bound notebook around with me for drawings, ideas, lists, fabric swatches, etc. I'd love to have the drawing journal though because there are clearly page after page of inspiration in there.

ReplyDeleteRecently, I've been trying to keep organized with Weight Watchers. I purchased a pretty notebook to force myself to write down points, but I think having a little day-by-day pocket book to write down points would be really handy AND useful to a lot of people out there. :)
ReplyDeleteI really love the Chronicle Books drawing journal. This would be perfect for my friend that I haven't been able to visit since I moved. I'd love to send this to her to let her know I was thinking of her -- she is constantly inspired by nature and loves to draw.
Thanks :)

A little addition to my note: I realize that Weight Watchers already offers a pocketbook for you to do this, but who wants to use a huge book that says "HEY, I'M TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT!" Something pretty and fun would be great! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Keli! I'm not sure what it is about organization (the peace of mind it brings, the way things look when they're in order, the fun of putting labels on things or putting them in cute boxes), but there's something about it that just gets me all giggly when I'm in a container shop or an organization isle in the store.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is organizing all of my creative products like my papers, and embellishments. I think having everything organized and looking cute at the same time is the fun part.
My favorite giveaway items this blog are the Hot Type and Draw Every Day drawing journal. I love love love making things for the people in my life including personalizing clothing and my boyfriend is big into drawing, so it would be so fun to be able to get better at drawing myself and be able to make him something special.
My name is Amanda and my email address is hawaiia911@aol.com. Thanks Keli!
It seems as though whenever I am organized in my space, my mind frees up and can become more creative! This is precisely what inspires me to become organized, because once my mind isn't cluttered, the inspiration flows and I have more energy to work on creative endeavours.
ReplyDeleteI love the "Keep Your House in Order" book, it is perfect for me because my husband and I are planning to move out here as soon as he is approved for citizenship!

Colored pens/markers and a new moleskin notebook (unlined or graph paper) inspire me. I've always had a thing for organizing, probably because I've always had a thing for making lists...not that I follow them all, but sometimes it's about making them!
ReplyDeleteI like The McSweeney's organizer. artandlemons (at) yahoo (dot) com
Things that inspire me to organize: post-it notes, color coding, the new Sharpie pens, interesting fonts, a messy desk, planning an event, talking with friends, reading a really good book that motivates me.
ReplyDeleteI'm a recent college grad and have just started my first full-time job (!). It's been hard so far to find time to creatively unwind, and I've been neglecting my sketchbooks. I've always been a fan of Jill Bliss, and her "Drawing Nature" book seems perfect for me. Interestingly, I find both order and disorder in the natural world, depending on my mood and the day and my knowledge about what I look at, I think it's fascinating that studying things makes them simultaneously simpler and more complex.
My e-mail is dianecsaunders@gmail.com.
I like to think of myself as being organized, but in reality, know that I've gotten away from that over the years. I'm too much of a collector (not a hoarder) and get discouraged trying to keep up with day to day chores. A little organized chaos is fine by me, but I've very little room to play with so that makes it even harder and tends to make my living area look messy.

I get inspired to organize or do crafty things at peaks of emotions mostly. If I'm really happy I'm inspired, if I'm a little sad I'm inspired... normal days, are just normal days for the most part. I really love to do little projects, and love working on organizing one space at a time.
ReplyDeleteI really love the iron on transfer book. It's amazing! It was really between that and the drawing book, but I'll get so much more use out of an iron on transfer book. I'm a youth pastor, and I create a lot of things for that. This would be useful and fun in so many ways!!!

I am inspired to create and organize when I can cross things off my "to do" list but also really motivated by procrastination from one "to do" item to another. A clean and organized space to work lets me forget about daily chores and focus on the fun things that might be more creative. And yes, I am always bothered by art projects that don't make it to completion. ...perhaps this is just part of the making process. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the Jill Bliss book. She is amazing. Also, thank you for showing me all three of these awesome books. You've got a great eye for them. ...i'm here from the Etsy blog and am happy to find your work.
Cheers,
Kate (brklnsac(at)sonic(dot)net)
I'm inspired by things around me. I've never been a crafty person but recently I've found myself getting into more projects and loving the feeling I get when I accomplish it! My issue arises that I need to have a clear space for a clear head so I can do my work. The McSweeney organizaer looks like it would be PERFECT for me!
ReplyDeleteJust found your site...I am in love!
